Per quanto riguarda la scelta su dove dormire, io vi faccio le seguenti proposte, i prezzi sono netti:
- piccolo hotel, direi b&b, vicinissimo ad Hyde Park, a pochi metri dalla fermata di Paddington della metro, molto semplice e tipicamente inglese (non aspettatevi charme) ma noi ci siamo sempre state bene: guardate qui: http://www.admiral-hotel.com/index.html – camera doppia a letti separati £75, singola £50 – colazione compresa, a notte
- hotel molto carino, 3 stelle, zona Notting Hill, guardate qui: http://www.newlinden.co.uk/IndexMain.htm camera doppia a letti separati £109, singola £79, colazione continentale luxury compresa, a notte – anche qui mai avuto problemi
- hotel 4 stelle, a due passi dalla London Eye e da Westminster, ottimamente collegato, stile moderno, camere molto spaziose, attrezzate con kitchenette….. http://www.parkplaza.com/countyhall_london ci siamo state l’anno scorso e siamo state benissimo – wi-fi e internet point gratuiti, centro benessere – l’unico inconveniente è che la singola costa quanto la doppia, £107,50 a notte
il cambio di oggi Euro-Sterlina è di 1,15, quindi ancora molto conveniente andare a Londra…
beh, che dire? votate!
e iniziate a farvi anche i vs conti, considerando che la quota da pagare a noi come compenso per organizzazione e accompagnamento, vi incide per Euro 145 a partecipante, per un minimo di 10 partecipanti…..ricordate le nuove modalità dei ns. viaggi? Se la risposta è no, leggete qui
Quindi se scegliete ad esempio il secondo hotel, 2 notti in doppia sono circa 124 euro, a cui aggiungere 145 e il volo…ma se siete 15 invece di 10, 145 si abbassano, e così via!

Perché torniamo a Londra? Per visitare la Tate Modern, assalire negozi e mercatini, rilassarsi un po’! non è abbastanza? Vedrete che a Londra non manca proprio niente! Sta a voi venire a prendervi tutto il mondo che volete!

AVETE TEMPO FINO A GIOVEDI’ 4 FEBBRAIO!
Avevo nemmeno 18 anni quando sono andata ad Amsterdam per la prima volta. E’ stato amore a prima vista.
Uno dei ricordi che ho di quel mio primo viaggio nella città che poi mi avrebbe accolta, cullata, resa felice per lunghi periodi, è quello della mia prima volta in Prinsengracht. Da studentessa universitaria, 4 anni dopo, avrei vissuto Prinsengracht come il luogo dei sogni, del divertimento, dell’amicizia, dell’amore. Ma da studente di scuola superiore, Prinsengracht era il canale dove si trova la casa di Anna Frank, ora e già allora (1992) museo.
Museo della Tolleranza, museo della memoria: salendo le ripide scale olandesi, man mano che visitavo gli ambienti di cui avevo letto nel diario, il battito cardiaco aumentava, e una volta arrivata al piano in cui si trovano esposte le memorie tragiche dell’olocausto, mi sono sentita mancare.
In tanti anni non ci sono mai più tornata. Però ringrazio i prof di allora per averci portato. Toccare con mano i risultati dell’odio e della violenza non può non sconvolgerti.
Oggi è il giorno della memoria, che secondo me deve essere la memoria di tutte le guerre e di tutti i genocidi.
Dobbiamo sempre ricordare che l’uomo può arrivare anche a questo. Ma può anche non farlo.

Yesterday I finally took some time for myself, and decided to have a walk in Lucca with my kid and some friends.
I wanted to visit “Mito e Bellezza” exhibition, intersting for me and my friends for the number of Hermes foulards, and of course for the military uniform of Napoleon’s armies. History and fashion, in a fantastic athomosphere!
Well, the day was fantastic, so before entering Palazzo Ducale to visit the exhibition, we pamperded ourselves with a special “marocco” coffee, nothing to do with Maroc, just a delicious mix of coffee, chocolate, milk foam…… the cold day made us, adult women!, feeling less guilty!!!!!!!!!!
The exhibition is really fantastic, worth to come from anywhere and visit it! Be awared that it closes at 6 p.m.: the first time I went there I was not the only one to be disappointed of seeing door closing at 5.55 pm…..so especially if you come from another city, check your schedule. And there’s not ticket to pay!

Lucca was part of Napoleon story, as long as his sister Elisa married with a man from Lucca, and lived here for a while. Before her arrival from France, the city was a little bit modified in order to meet with a France “grandeur” taste: the only few signs of changement in the urban panorama for centuries! Anyway the only gothic church we had was demolished to make more space, most of the canals were covered to avoid smell, and some other few things were done. Basicly the city still looks medioeval in most of its city centre.
Grandeur or not, Lucca has a perfect ambient. For a woman walking around safely, for kids, playing in its squares around monument in the open air, for people willing to relax.
For sure it does’t offer fun and nightlife, but you can find it on the coast at 10 mins drive.

Intanto segnatevi queste date: 28 aprile-2 maggio, in Olanda per la Festa della Regina, e 22-25 maggio, in Camargue per la Festa dei Gitani, come tutti gli anni!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! today I was in Florence (again!), and finally was a beautiful winter sunny day. I needed to do different meetings, in different areas of the city, and I decided to go there from Lucca by car, despite the traffic jam due to Pitti Immagine Uomo.
Well, today the city was fantastic, full of life, fashion, style, very nice to walk around.
I after many years, I could say more than 15, I had teh chance to walk along itineraries that took me back in time, when I often went to Florence with my parents, as a child and then a teen ager. We used to go and visit museum, exhibitions, and more connected with culture. I have to admit that by that time I hated my parents, because I thought that I was doing boring things……I just didn’t understand. Now I do it, and I must say THANKS to my parents, because all this opened my mind.
And today, after many years, after many tours in Florence as a tourism professional, I can still recognize the corners of the city that have a familiar smell, that still have the same image in my memory. It is really amazing.
Is travelling a way to discover, but also an experience of recognization? you recognize what you love, whereever you find it. Doesn’t matter where in the world, there are sounds, colours, flavours, images, connecting our travel experience to our personal life experience. Living the experience is fantastic as well as bearing the memory of it, and as reconnecting to it anywhere you are.
Re-breathe, re-love, re-walk: the charm of Florence!
just an illusion? Sunny morning driving along Versilia coast, Apuan Alps on my right, full of snow….the charm of Tuscan coast on winter time!
As citizen of Lucca, Tuscany, I was surprised to discover this spot in the heart of the old city centre.
As traveller and world citizen (I pretend myself to be), I shouldn’t be surprised when seeing sculptures of contemporary artists making city centres open air museums, or art spaces anyway.
But in Lucca it sounded me strange.
What’s going on here? is there something changing? what about the traditional conservative mentality of Lucca?
Well, actually something happened last spring, since May we have L.u.C.C.A., Lucca Center of Contemporary Art, the living museum, as they define it. And it’s true, and Christian Balzano sculpture is a sign of it. You can see it in Piazza degli Scarpellini until February. Just outside Roman amphitheatre, now bearing layers of buildings, but still showing its original shape, a symbol of Lucca.
New and Old: have people here finally understood the potential effect of this matching?
I think about London, about Norman Foster buildings mixing with old buildings, about new construction making the city and Thames SouthBank even more attractive……just to quote London, but I could say Barcelona, Paris, and a lot more.
I think is really a personal point of view: should urban architects and architectures match with contemporary feelings or should we keep everything the way it was? Difficult answer, and a balance between the two issues is hard to be found.
For sure, there are many theories and positions among architects, art history specialists, city managers, and they are different also according to the place subject to this kind studies.
So I just think that development must be sustainable, but there must be.
